Office Staff
Debbie Weekes
, our Administrative Assistant, has been in her job since 1998. She’s attended Aldersgate since 1989. Debbie was raised in Lake George, New York and in Tampa, Florida. She attended Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach and St. Petersburg Junior College locally. She has two children, Anona and Brett. Before deciding to become our secretary, Debbie was the secretary at Dixie Hollins High School and later Clearwater High School. As Administrative Assistant, Debbie manages the day to day operations of the church office, including most clerical tasks. She keeps membership records, manages schedules, directs volunteer personnel and special projects. Debbie is also responsible for the oversight of computer input and record retrieval and the development and training of the office staff. When you come to the office at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, most likely it will be Debbie who greets you and offers to help. Her bright and shining smile lights up the office. Her mission? Why, to be the best witness for Jesus!
Sharon Welch
is our Church Business Coordinator at Aldersgate. She has been a member of the congregation since 2001. Sharon was born in Ypsilanti, MI and moved to St. Petersburg when she was 6 years old. She graduated from Boca Ciega High school and was a United States Marine for two years. She was married for 24 years before she was widowed. She has a son that lives in Orlando with his wife and two gorgeous daughters. She has been in various fields of accounting for 25 years.
Michelle Nielsen
has been a member of Aldersgate since 1993 and is our Assistant Church Secretary. She was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia and moved to Florida with her family in 1985. She is married and has two children. Her life long goal is to never stop learning about and living for Christ.
Bob Surls
is the Facilities Manager at Aldersgate.

Support Staff
Jason Williams
is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University. While in college, Jason served as a youth ministry intern for two years at the church he attended. In 2008, Jason spent six months as a ministry intern in Australia. He has been at Aldersgate since June of 2009. Jason is our Youth Pastor, spending much of his time building relationships with students as well as leading Sunday and Wednesday evening Youth services and small groups.
Connie Carpenter
is our Children & Family Pastor. She is a graduate of Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible & Theology. She has been on staff at Aldersgate since June of 2009 and served as a Children’s Pastor at a church in Idaho for three years after graduating from college. Connie’s passion is to share God’s love with children and help them to know who God is and what His plan is for them in a way they can understand.
Barbara Weatherill
is our Director of Music. She is a graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University, and holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education. While in college, Barbara served as music intern at United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches. She also taught elementary general music and 1st grade while in Palm Beach County. After relocating back to Pinellas, Barbara taught middle school chorus, orchestra, guitar, and reading before becoming part of the Aldersgate staff. Aldersgate has been Barbara’s church home since 1995. She and her husband, Andrew, were married at Aldersgate in 2004. The Weatherills have two daughters, Elise and Lilianne.
Bil Shappell
is our Organist (yes, only one “L” in Bil. Here is a little more about Bil:

- COOLEST LIFE MOMENTS – Opening for Thompson Twins (1982), playing keyboards for 1400 United Methodist women at the Baltimore Convention Center, learning I got the job at Aldersgate
- EDUCATION – Associates degree from Worship Arts Conservatory
- PURPOSE – To worship God and demonstrate gratitude through the fine arts
Lou Ann Lee
has worked with the Aldersgate Christian Learning Center since 1989, and has been the director since 1996. Her family joined Aldersgate 25 years ago. Lou Ann is married to Terry and they have two adult children. As Director of the Preschool, Lou Ann strives to establish a firm foundation in the lives of the children she comes in contact with, just as she and her husband worked to build that foundation for their own children. The staff of the school is like a family, and shares Jesus with the children and the parents of the children. Everyone is committed to run a good school. Aldersgate Christian Learning Center is considered one of the top preschools in Pinellas County. The school is a member of the United Methodist Association of Preschools (UMAP) and routinely passes inspections from all local boards. Aldersgate Christian Learning Center has earned their ‘Gold Seal’ accreditation. Lou Ann says she feels God has blessed her by placing her in her job. She loves coming to her church to work every day.
