Pastor Steve Ezra is the Senior Pastor at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Dr. Steve Ezra (just “Steve” or “Pastor Steve”) was born and raised in North Judson, Indiana, which is a small town in the northwest part of the state. His parents, retired public school teachers, still live in his hometown. Pastor Steve graduated from Purdue University in 1992 (B.A. in Social Studies Education), Asbury Theological Seminary in 1996 (M.Div.), and Fuller Theological Seminary in 2012 (D.Min.). He served two churches in the North Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church and was adjunct faculty in public speaking for Ivy Tech State College in Fort Wayne before transferring to Florida in 2003 to work with new church development in the Florida Conference. He served 5 years at Heritage UMC in Clearwater and 7½ years at St. James UMC in Tampa. Pastor Steve was certified as a life coach and Natural Church Development coach through CoachNet in 2005. He is an active member of the C12 group, a Christian CEO round table, executive coaching, and business advisory group. His interests include anything automobile-related—antique/classic cars in particular, reading in areas of theology, leadership, and history, and spending time with his wonderful family traveling the world, even if it’s just to Disney World.
Hi my name is Jeremiah Garrett and I am the director of youth ministries here at Aldersgate. I enjoy exercising, spending time at the beach and watching college football; go Noles! My wife Natalia and I have been together since high school and we have two wonderful little boys, Daniel and Samuel. It is my desire to see young people radically transformed by having a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.
Children & Family Pastor
Connie Carpenter is the Director of Children & Family Ministries and has been here for over 7 years. Connie has a wonderful connection with the children here at Aldersgate. When she’s not planning Sunday School lessons or playing with the kids, she enjoys spending time with friends, playing board games, going fishing (although she will not eat any kind of seafood) and playing the guitar. Her favorite thing to do is use her vacation time travel around the states to see friends and family. The mountains are her favorite place to go to relax and spend time outdoors. Do not ask her to go in the ocean because that is one of her biggest fears!
Barbara Weatherill is our Director of Music. Barbara graduated in 2006 from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education Her teaching experiences include elementary general music, middle school chorus, orchestra, guitar, and reading. As music minister, Barbara’s desire is to use her passion for music to glorify God and to connect others with the Creator and His people. Aldersgate UMC has been Barbara’s church home since 1995, and she is grateful that she and her husband are now raising their three children in this incredible church family.
Lou Ann Lee
Our family has been a part of the ministries of Aldersgate since 1982, not only do my husband and I love to camp but our two dogs also love to go camping, I love spending time with my 4 grandkids but most of all I like to make people laugh. I have been known over the years as The Aldersgate TP Queen.
Heather serves as our Office Administrator. Heather, her husband and their 2 children are recent transplants to Florida (from UPSTATE New York). This is a family on the go and the sunshine of Florida allows them to explore more. As family they participate in Cub Scouts and enjoy camping. When they are not in the woods, they can be found wandering around popular spots hunting Pokémon. Heather also enjoys a good cup of coffee (or the whole pot!) and conversation.
Nathan is our Communications Director. Nathan received his Associates Degree from St. Petersburg College and is currently attending University of South Florida for his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. In his spare time, Nathan enjoys playing music.
Pastor of Congregational Care
Our Minister of Congregation Care is a well-traveled fitness enthusiast and sports fan. Gary’s previous career in the US Air Force provides a mix of academic study, leadership training and practical experience. He has lived and worked in all four corners of our country, and in more than six foreign countries. He still plays golf and volleyball, and you will find him on the local running and biking trails. Ask him about his favorite sports teams and how God is working in his life.
