Clearwater Threshers vs. St. Lucie Mets Tickets

Aldersgate Church bought a block of 30 tickets to see the Clearwater Threshers play the St. Lucie Mets in Clearwater on Friday, August 10. Game begins at 6:15pm. It’s 25¢ hot dog night, and the first 1000 men through the gate also get a free Threshers golf towel (“men” because it’s prostate cancer awareness night). Spectrum Field is a very family-friendly ballpark, with a children’s playground on the main deck. Tickets are $4.00 each for field box seats and are first come, first serve to our Aldersgate family. See Pastor Steve or come to the church office to get your tickets. It’s Aldersgate families and baseball as a last hurrah before schools get back in session!

July Mission Trip to Champions for Life Kids Camp
in Detroit, MI
There will be an application filled out by everyone and background checks done on all volunteers. All volunteers must be 18 years old or older. The cost of the trip will include an airline tickets to Detroit, 2 nights in a hotel (we can share rooms), background check, team t-shirt and you will pay for a couple meals while we are in Detroit. We will leave Tampa on Saturday morning, July 7 and will return Saturday evening, July 14.
Sunday morning we will attend church and then head to camp to prepare for the kids arrival on Monday morning. You will be a Camper Buddy and will have one or two kids to spend the week with. You will never be alone with the kids and will have plenty of support as you help the kids make memories doing all of the various activities. The best part of camp is being able to introduce them God, who will always be with them.

There is mandated training for all volunteers and DCF in Michigan requires a certain number of hours for all new volunteers. This training will be available here in Florida and will be taught by the directors of the camp. Most of the time we do the training online. These kids are wards of the state of Michigan and have been abused, abandoned or neglected. The training will help prepare you as you minister to them and spend time the normal daily activities with them. Our job is to just love them.

This is the 16th year the camp has been there and our 8th year going.
Go to www.visionhope.org to learn more about this camp and watch a video that will explain the heart behind this camp and give you a glimpse of what it will be like.
If you are interested we will have a meeting on Sunday, January 21 in the KidsCity Room at 10:45am. An application and $75 deposit to hold your place on our team will be due no later than Sunday, January 28.

Contact Connie Carpenter with any questions.
